We're looking for a Sound Guy!!!!!!!

About Us

We are a five piece cover band, specializing in well-known, guitar-driven pop and rock classics from the 70’s through today. We currently play between one and two gigs per month. Our primary goal is for our audience to have fun and for the business that booked us to have a good evening. We tend to play a small number of places regularly, and seek to form good relationships with the managers of the businesses we play for.

About our PA

We use a Behringer XR 18, run through a 8” tablet on the XAir App.

Four of us have vocal mics. One of us sings most leads, but all of us do some lead, and we’ll have between one and three people on backup during a song. Harmonies and vocal mix are important to us.

We run four to five instruments at a time, and we occasionally pass instruments between ourselves:

  • Guitar
  • Bass or acoustic guitar
  • Electronic drums
  • Keyboard/midi including sometimes covering bass.

We run an entirely “clean” stage - no cabinets or floor monitors. Our only live sound comes from our mains. All instruments run direct, and all monitors are in-ear. Each musician is responsible for running his own in-ear monitor. Therefore, the sound person is only responsible for the sound that the audience hears, and doesn’t have to worry about the battle of musicians turning up on-stage amps.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a reliable individual with reliable transportation to run sound at all of our live gigs. It’s good if you have experience running sound, but if you are a rock musician who has played in a band and has a good ear, we are willing to give you an opportunity to see how it works.

We will pay you $75 cash per gig, whether it is three or four hours, as long as you arrive ½ hour before the gig start time. We will reduce the pay if you arrive later than this, and if you arrive past gig start time, we will not use you again. You will not have tear-down or set-up responsibilities. If you have to cancel due to an illness, we would expect as much advance warning as possible.

This is not a band where you can set levels and then sit back and relax. You will need to be alert and adjusting throughout an evening.

The musicians in this band do not drink during gigs. While we understand that you might have a drink or two, it is our expectation that you do not drink/otherwise partake enough to affect your ability to mix our sound well, or to cause an unpleasant interaction with staff or an audience member.

If an audience member asks you to adjust the sound, we would expect you to defer them to us. If a staff member asks you to adjust overall sound volume, we would expect you to cheerfully comply. In fact, we would encourage you to check with staff to see if the overall volume is in line with their expectations.

Upcoming Gigs

February 8th, March 1st, March 8th, April 5th, April 19th, May 10th, June 7th (tentative)
